Interview to the Spanish Teachers
      We
interviewed the Spanish teachers, using English. Some of us could also
      speak Spanish.

      Pepe
( Giuseppe) Laserna is the principal of Nuestra Señora del Castillo
School, in Perales de Tajuña, a little village near Madrid.

      Teo
Gomez Calcerrada is the headteacher and the English teacher.

      We
asked them some questions about Spanish school and about Spain.

      In
Spain, Primary school lasts six years, from 6 to 12 years old pupils.
Classes are composed by 20 pupils.

      School
subjects are: Spanish language, English language, catholic religion,
mathematics, history, geography, science, P.E., art and music.

      Children
      don’t use uniforms.

      Pupils
in Perales go to school at 9.30 and at 1.30 go home to have lunch ,
because at school there is not the canteen. At 3 o’clock they go back to
      school and finish at 4.15.

      They
organize a lot of school trips and excursions. They told us that they were
on the river Tajuña, to watch the wild eagles, to Madrid.

      The
most popular sports are : football, basketball, volleyball and archery.

      Pepe
and Teo told us that they liked Rome and the Colosseum very much.

      Then
they answered to some questions about Spain. So we could know that in
Spain there is the monarchy and the king is Juan Carlos I. The bull fight
is a Spanish tradition, but they don’t like it.

      This
meeting had a great value for us because we could understand and use two
languages different for our own language,
      Spanish and  English.

      English
is the language we study at school and Spanish is the language spoken by
      some of our parents.
